The Germans have a word for this

I was going to make a joke about comedy writers on strike, but I mustn't, because that would be scabbing. So I'll just put in a sympathetic word for the dollar. Losing the supermodels - that's got to hurt.

In other author employment news, Swift Boat writers are shocked that Regnery is taking the product of their loving labour and making a killing with it, without returning the profits back to them.

Mr. Miniter said [...] "It suddenly occurred to us that Regnery is making collectively jillions of dollars off of us and paying us a pittance." He added: "Why is Regnery acting like a Marxist cartoon of a capitalist company?"

Because they can?

Paul Krugman picked it up, too--did you notice? Or did you find it there?

Hi Del, good to hear from you. How come you missed the kaffeeklatch?

Randolph, I picked it up from the BBC's Business page.

I say to you again, Mr. McLeod, sir: It must be scary to find yourself living in one of your own SF novels.

As for the Swifters - it's just like those arch-conservafucks to demand that everyone live in a Marxist cartoon of a capitalist country, then whine about the rules when they apply to them...

Ken,

I take you didn't see this story about Supermodels and strike action from last year?

America's Top Model Writers Strike Back

No, Darren, I hadn't. Casts yet another shadow over reality TV, which is already pretty dark stuff.

Ken,

well, according to some reports over here it'll be the reality shows that could possibly weaken the stike.

So, the sooner reality show writers are unionised the better.

Darren, I entirely agree.

Doesn't the fact that a 'reality show' requires writers sort of undermine the whole premise of the shows?

I go about my everyday business quite adequately without recourse to a writer. And I'm apparently caught around 300 times a day on cameras too.

Reality TV - the greatest oxymoron of the 21st century.

And there was me thinking the
general public voted for the
outcome of reality shows. What
the viewers see isn't what
they cast their votes for.

That's one of the few "real" aspects
of reality TV.

Ineresting Marxist analysis of reality shows here.

The dollar is sinking (right through my pocket) so what currency will we use in space?
